1918 — Designed by Myron Hunt
January 1, 1921 — Grand opening of Ambassador Hotel, owned by Schine family until 1970s
April 21, 1921 — Cocoanut Grove established
April 3, 1930 — Hosted second Academy Awards, and five more afterwards during the 30s and 40s
October 4, 1930 — Celebrated Mickey Mouse 2nd birthday
June 5, 1968 — Robert Kennedy assassinated by Sirhan Sirhan in kitchen behind the Embassy Room
1971 — Charles Manson murder trial jury stayed in hotel for 9 months
1989 — Official closing of the hotel
1989 — Donald Trump purchased the site for 64 million with plans to develop a high rise hotel
1990 — Ambassador Film established, a private company renting the hotel out for film production
December 2001 — LAUSD win development rights to the hotel
April 1, 2004 — Demolition suspended due to a lawsuit with Los Angeles Conservancy
