We are artists who share strong cultural ties to Los Angeles. Wilshire Boulevard, whose own development was driven by the construction of the Ambassador Hotel in 1921, has formed the major artery connecting our friendship and artistic exchange.
A native Angeleno, Stephen Hilger has been photographing the architecture and the social landscape in and around Los Angeles from 1997 to present day. His other projects have featured neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles including Beverly Hills, Elysian Park and Miracle Mile, and he has documented a variety of flora throughout Southern California. Annie Shaw lived in Los Angeles from 1999 to 2005 where she founded Leefahsalung at the New China Town Barber Shop. There, she transformed a sixty year old barbershop into an exhibition space. Stephen received his MFA in photography from Columbia University in 2003, while the same art department has brought Annie to New York, where she received her MFA in new genres in 2007.
